Xerjoff Oud Stars Luxor Parfum

Of Xerjoff's OUD STARS collection, Luxor is surely the least OUD-Y offering. It is a beguiling concoction, in which the Cambodian oud and Indonesian patchouli combine with subtle notes of leather, spice, cedar and tobacco to create a richly sensual and mysterious impression. Unlike its 'best-in-fall-or-winter' stablemates in the Oud Stars collection, I would not describe Luxor as terribly seasonal, and I wouldn't hesitate to wear it year round. If I have one small complaint about this marvellous fragrance, it's simply that projection and sillage are moderate at best. Otherwise Luxor is intoxicating and it gets a five out of five all day long. If someone is interested in Oud, but leery of its animalic reputation, this is a safe bet. But blind--buying any niche fragrance is inadvisable, so I would recommend chasing down a 5 or 10 ml. sample from one of the decant houses like Scent Split or MaxAroma. But be forewarned - you're likely to become a convert.
